This post is a little late going up. But last month we celebrated our Bub’s first birthday.
Unsurprisingly, we’ve been busy. So getting pictures up took a little longer than I would have liked.
But on to the show!
There were presents. And Bub loved them, so did his sister, SweetPea 🙂 . But even better than presents were chocolate cupcakes. With pink frosting, of course. And yes, SweetPea did pick out both the flavor of the cupcakes AND the color of the frosting. Bub can pick those things next year, you know, when he’s talking.
This next picture proves that Bub is my child. I make that same face every time I eat chocolate. Every single time. It’s just so dang good.
This next picture proves that Bub is related to my husband. He does the same thing whenever he eats chocolate. Or spaghetti for that matter. That’s actually not true, he’s a bit of freak about getting food on his hands and face.
But this face is why we love him so!
Also this face.
Happy Birthday Bub! We’re so lucky to have two wonderful kids. And here’s to lots more crazy, messy, wonderful adventures. I hope you all are enjoying your families and your chocolate as much as I am.

Jason walked in and Megan smiled. She moved to greet him with a kiss.
Instead of enveloping her in his embrace he held her at arms length. Megan’s breath caught in her throat.
Jason walked her to the side of the room. Her drink, sweet moments before, suddenly tasted bitter. He whispered in her ear. Two words, “it’s over.” Megan looked into his eyes ever so briefly before turning away.
She set her drink down and left the party. Alone, just like when she came, but now instead of happy anticipation she only felt cold shock.

Apparently my kids want to be like their dad. I can’t say I blame them. I mean, I think he’s pretty awesome.
SweetPea trying on Dad’s shoes
I have to say, I particularly love this next photo. Dan captured a similar photo of SweetPea and me sleeping in identical positions when she was only a few months old too. It’s kind of precious. So I was really excited when I saw the boys sleeping like this. I had to, just had to take a picture.
Bub imitates Dad even while sleeping
Today was a first since Bub was born. I took both SweetPea and Bub to the grocery store by myself!
True it was a very short grocery list. But we did it! Aside from the one item I actually needed for dinner tonight…I forgot that. But I remembered the ice cream, so everything is ok in my book.
Did I mention we went to the doctor last week? Bub has gained 2 pounds since we left the hospital! For this mom (who struggled immensely with milk supply the first time) that was the best news ever.
And have I told you how ridiculously adorable SweetPea is with little Bub? She’s always giving him hugs and kisses, asking to hold him, and helping Dad feed him with the bottle.
Meanwhile, little Bub spends his day sleeping, eating, crying, and farting (seriously, this kid has gas). And I spend my day with a kink in my neck from looking down at him all the time. I just can’t get enough of that little guy.
SweetPea and Little Bub
Folks, we’ve had a baby breakthrough!
Our little Bub is exactly two weeks old today. And today is the first day he’s stayed asleep for longer than 5 minutes while not being held or in direct contact with somebody…usually me. That means, for two weeks he was constantly being held. Which was great…except for when it wasn’t…like when I had to pee, or take care of SweetPea, or eat, or get more water, or move in general.
But no more! Today he slept for 1 hour in his swing! One whole hour where I had my body to myself, where I was able to do what I wanted, when I wanted. It was glorious. I can’t wait to do it again tomorrow.
I love getting flowers,
What about you?
I used to say I didn’t like flowers. That they were a waste of money and then they died. But I love having flowers in my home. Let me repeat, I LOVE having flowers in my home.
There is just something so bright and cheery about a room with fresh flowers in it. They always draw my eye and bring a smile to my face.
I also love having a husband who for no reason at all, occasionally brings me flowers. It’s better than the guy who brings flowers on birthdays, Valentine’s, and anniversaries. I never expect the flowers, I’m just completely overjoyed when they appear.
At least until they die and start emitting that rotten flower smell. But until then, I love having flowers in my house.
But honestly, my kid is walking.
That’s right. SweetPea has officially decided that she can walk. Watch out world.
Of course, right now she’s sitting in our living room dumping cheerios on the ground and eating them…watch out, world, watch out…
