I have the privilege of bringing to everyone a person whom I hold dear, a writer who has been with me since the beginning--Wren Emerson. Her stories nearly defy categorization, being part romance, part mystery, part action, fantasy, paranormal... She is as much of a genre-blending machine as I am!
I've invited her here today to talk about her process of world building, a feat which she seems to accomplish effortlessly.
Here is a great post about writing. There are some basic ideas to help writers of all genres. And there is some more in depth ideas on world creating, the focus there is fiction/fantasy, but if you interpret it loosely it can be applied to all genres too. There's some really great information and methodology tips here. Good stuff!

Hey! I just stumbled across your blog and want to say that I really enjoy it. You’re a great writer! Wren’s tips are wonderful also, and I dig the setup of the writing station.
I’ve just started publishing some of my writing on the blogosphere and would love for you to check it out. I’d really value your feedback! You can find my latest post, a flash fiction on mourning, here: http://carefullyarrangedwords.wordpress.com/2012/03/15/ashes-to-ashes/
Thanks for stopping by! I’m heading your way right now
